Insurance Year: Most insurances benefit year are based upon a normal calendar year January 1-December 31. There are some plans that are non-calendar years. You should find out as this may mess up your annual benefit maximum.
Annual benefit maximum: The amount that dental insurances will cover per benefit year. Most plans are $1500, so you get $1500 per benefit year. The normal plans range from $1,000-$2,500.
Annual deductible: The amount that you pay on treatment before insurance starts paying. Most deductibles are $25-$50, so you pay the first $25.
Wait Periods: You have to wait a certain period before insurance will cover certain treatment.
Missing Tooth Clauses: Insurance will not cover replacing a tooth that was missing before your coverage started. This usually applies to bridges and implants.
